Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky fired the Head of the State Security Agency and Prosecutor General on July 17, quoting hundreds of criminal processes into betrayal and collaboration by people in their departments.
“Specifically, more than 60 employees of the Prosecutor’s Office and SBU remain in the occupied area and work against our country,” Zelensky said.”A little crime against the basis of state national security, and relations recorded between Ukraine security forces and Russian special services raises very serious questions about their respective leaders,” he said.
He fired prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova, and replaced him with his representative Oleksiy Symonenko. He also fired Ivan Bakanov, Head of the Ukraine Security Service, SBU. Bakanov is Mr. Old Friend Zelensky, according to the Ukraine news agency.
