Senior Afghan Taliban Leader Rahimullah Haqqani Killed In Kabul Blast: Report

A prominent Taliban leader, Sheikh Rahimullah Haqqani, was killed in an attack in Kabul on Thursday, according to an intelligence official, the Reuters news agency reported. According to the report, Abdul Rahman, head of intelligence for districts in the capital of Afghanistan, where the explosion occurred, confirmed the death.

According to the news agency, four Taliban sources said that the attack occurred in the seminary of religion in the capital of Afghanistan, when a man, who had previously lost his feet, had blew up explosives hidden in plastic artificial feet. According to sources, it is not certain who is behind the explosion. They added that this problem was being investigated.

This happened only a few days after the US killed Al-Qaeda leader, Ayman Al-Zawahiri, in a drone attack on Afghanistan. According to reports, Zawahiri was killed in a counter-terrorism operation carried out by the CIA in the capital of Afghanistan Kabul on Sunday.

It should be noted that Zawahiri and Osama bin Laden have planned the 9/11 attacks together, and he is one of the most sought -after terrorists in America. US President Joe Biden said that Al-Zawahiri had “made a trail of murder and violence against American citizens”.

“From hiding, he coordinates the branches of al-Qaeda and throughout the world, including establishing priorities to provide operational guidance and call for and inspire attacks on US targets,” BBC quoted the President who said in a television speech directly from The White Home.

“Now justice has been delivered and there are no more terrorist leaders,” Biden added. The US president said that the murder of the Al -Qaeda leader would bring closure to families of nearly 3,000 victims of terror attacks in 2001, where the hijackers crashed into passenger jets to important buildings in New York and Washington -including two skyscrapers in Manhattan.
