A truck carrying around 10,000 pounds (more than 45 kg) of fireworks burned on the highway near New Jersey, United States. The incident occurred on Sunday (June 26) giving motorists on the way the opportunity to enjoy the celebration only a few days before the US Independence Day on July 4.
The Jersey Fire Department was saying on Twitter that the Hazmat truck was part of the crew that arrived at the scene to get help.
The highway was closed because the fire and truck tanker tasks were also asked at the location, the fire department said. Mil from the traffic queue is seen on the road until Monday morning.
The fireworks in the truck burned and exploded in the sky on the vehicle when burning close to milepost 15.4 in the Somerset-Bridgewater area (Knoll Green) at 287 S. The highway authority was informed to close the road and call for water supply to extinguish the fire.
According to the police, the truck driver saw a burning doll tire and stopped at 10:30 pm on Sunday. He then reported the burns on his arm.
The cause of the incident is still unknown, said the police.
This is not the first time a truck that carries cracked crackers. In November last year, a similar incident occurred in Ohio when a truck carrying fireworks burned and sent explosives in all directions. Three people were injured in the incident.
Local media reports say that unknown people have thrown big firecrackers at the truck, which caused the terrible incident.
