Employee accidentally gets paid 286 times his salary; resigns and disappears in Chile

A man who was accidentally paid 286 times his salary last month had resigned from the company and disappeared after promising his employer that he would return the amount paid excessively.
The man works at Consorcio Industrial de Alimentos (CIAL), one of the largest cold pieces manufacturers in Chile. The company accidentally paid employees 165,398,851 Peso Chili (RS 1,42 Crore), instead of 500,000 pesos (RS 43,000) he had the right to do, according to local media.

The employee has contacted the Deputy Manager at the Human Resources Department to report payment errors.

Company management checks their notes and confirms that the employee is mistakenly paid by around 286 times the salary. The employee was asked to return the money paid excessively.
The worker allegedly agreed to go to his bank to return the amount paid excessively to him. However, he did not seem to want to return the money.
When the company does not receive notification of refund from the bank, they try to contact employees – but their messages are not answered.
The man then contacted, claimed that he fell asleep and would visit the bank.
However, on June 2, he handed over his resignation and now reportedly disappeared.
The company has taken legal action against the man to recover money that they accidentally transfer to the man.
